The tape we carry is the Rolls Royce model of this
particular type of tape!! It is the tape that I have always used
building my own instruments here at Allen Guitars. Other tapes on
the market may be thinner and not as tough.
The tape is used to hold the
bindings and purflings in place while gluing them to the edge of the
body. Regular masking tape is generally too weak. The best choice is
this Heavy Duty tape.
Made with a premium water
resistant extensible flat back kraft paper, coated with a high tack,
temperature resistant, natural rubber adhesive. Offers high tensile,
holding power, good elongation and low temperature performance.
It is strong enough to apply sufficient
pressure with a strong adhesive yet can be torn by hand as you work.
Be extra careful when removing fro unfinished wood as it can pull
grain with it. Not recommended for use on vintage or delicate
finishes.
